Sword Art Online

I needed a single image I could refer to when anybody asks me to explain Sword Art Online.
Actually, Mike Krahulik tweeted his interest in the series, and I spent like 10 minutes searching tumblr for an appropriate gif to explain it but could not find one.
Also, the Penny Arcade peeps recently did an interview with Mashable about Strip Search! They open up about their role on the show and yadda yadda just go read it!

Was debating on watching this.
Now I have to.
Yes! You’ll have a visible scar from rubbing your temple so much…every person who’s been through SAO has it.
Butt…what does it mean?
“Butt” means “ass” :-x
it was a pun. xD
But/butt
Get it?
Really enjoyed the first 14 episodes… the rest was this. Horrible.
Just to qualify this comment: *loved* the comic. Sorry it sounded mean =(
I enjoyed Sword Art Online, but they got really lazy on the fights in the second half of that season. They skipped the underground part with the weird elephant/jellyfish too.
The books were good.
I would ask a lot of plot-related questions during the episodes, like how they were all alive if they’d been trapped for several years. My brother had to explain that in the books they put everyone in hospitals, whereas in the show they never really clarified until he woke up.
Actually, this was clarified during the first episode, I think. Or at least some time before he wakes up, that they’re all put in a hospital.
Even as someone who unapologetically enjoyed this show, this strip completely broke me.
Phuzzy sent me down that road. Having not really followed anime for years, Opinionated Anime Person had me wondering “what the eff is a Madoka?” And then you try it and it’s so good and it sends you on a horrible anime bender the likes of which you’ve never seen, where before you know it you’re watching all of Code Geass again and shotgunning Bakemonogatari while crawling through MAL looking for the next hit and oh God what happened to my LIFE
WHAT HAVE A DONE I’VE BROKEN A HUMAN BEING
You’re doing god’s work
I have never seen, nor even heard of this show, and yet now I am completely familiar with it from one joke. Anime, why you so cra-zay?
I left out the incest but that stuff is usually an implied requirement
The little fairy thing annoyed me to death with that anime. Also, love your guest strip on Fanboys.
Monica, I just read through every one of your comics. You are the Doppleganger of my friend, Allegra, from Portland, Oregon, and I love you for that. XD
THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE *rides away on horse*
Lol! Even the response, man. Even the response… By the way, just watched your video on Strip Search and I actually live in Chicago, myself! That’s trippie…
BEST CITY!! Though getting my wallet stolen twice has jaded me =_=
OH mah Gawd. (irrelevant interjection) enjoyed the fanboys guest comic.
Can I just say that smug Sylvia riding a Hydreigon (amongst many things) in your Fanboys cameo was quite possibly the best part of my day, along with finishing work earlier and not having to walk an hour in the snow?
Just wanted to say thanks for comics like this. I don’t watch a lot of TV and I’m an anime snob so finding shows I like, such as Madoka and SAO, is kind of a big deal.
is he flying by flapping his ears?
He gets two different hairstyles in the show – one of them includes elf ears.
For some reason I decided to watch SAO with only this comic as foreknowledge and I’d to think it enhanced the experience. So, thanks(???).
HA YES my life is complete!!
Ijust finished watching this today. You pretty much summed it up perfectly.
Hope they make the next storyline into anime. Want to see more GUNs and less incest.
